So I thought about blogging a while ago. I use to Journal, not so much a daily diary, but a random rant or rave here or there. Putting in on the web for all to see wasn't really what I wanted to do, but I see so many bogs, I'd like to follow and so many people have great ideas. Well what if I asked readers for suggestions.
So here is my "random" situation in a nutshell. I work for the local Girl Scout Council and I am on the edge of our supper busy fall recruitment season. I have a love/hate relationship with this time of year. I love the fall, the colors, the cooler weather, the fashions... I know that has nothing to do with work. I also love getting other women excited about Girl Scouts. I like working with the girls and getting troops up and going and I like training the new volunteers. I don't like working 4 nights a week sometimes all day, I don't like the demand, I don't like that people expect you to have a volunteer for little Suzie's troop when they are not willing to help out! I don't like not seeing my family or not tucking in Carleigh, my three year old for bed time. I feel like a slacker because I can't stay on top of my older children's school work, and homework assignments and I haven't made one of Carleigh's Halloween costumes yet. only because this holiday falls into my busy season. I also don't like fall because I usually end up sick.
So I am trying to be proactive. Make ahead meals for easy dinner time for me or my husband. Learning to balance my professional life with my home life. Thrown into the mix; Carleigh starts pre-school in the beginning of September so on Tuesdays and Thursdays I can either send her into day care, take her to her existing day care or take her home.... I am not sure how this will all work out.
So I am in dire need of learning how to balance, children, work, meals, cleaning and making a Halloween costume. I am not looking to be supermom but I feel like I am super-absent this time of year for my family.
Do you have suggestions? I am looking for easy meal recipes for crock pot that can be made up the day before of things that can be prepared and frozen for later. Scheduling/Calendar Tips?
Congratulations on your blog Amy! I loved doing mine, although I really need to find time to get back to writing. It's been months! As for balance, you have way more experience than I with that already, but one of my favorite tools I've put into use is a Daily Docket (http://simplemom.net/daily-docket/) which could certainly be adapted for you. As for cooking, I've done the freezer thing a few times so far, and my favorite website by far is http://www.onceamonthmom.com/. She does a monthly menu which you can follow to a T - or just use it for a recipe resource like I do and make your own Menu. My favorites are her Chicken Parm Meatloaf, Ground Beef Stroganoff, Chicken Stuffing Bake and a few others. Good luck with your new home on the web!
